Joe Kern is a native Floridian, living in Titusville, Florida from 1969-1990, and he is the youngest of 8 siblings.

Joe began playing golf in his freshman year of high school and was hooked immediately, improving to the point that he knew it was to be his lifetime profession. He was fortunate to learn the techniques of the golf swing when he worked for Jimmy Ballard, a world renowned golf instructor, at the Doral Resort and Spa from 1989-1991, and became an instructor at Doral under his Jimmy’s tutelage.

Joe played professionally for a few years and was offered an assistants job at the Indian River Club in Vero Beach, and soon after was offered the position of Head Golf Professional. Under his leadership, Indian River Club become one of the top Private Clubs in the Vero Beach area. His easy manner and teaching routine has made Joe a favorite among the area’s golf instructors and he has taught many people, from novice and Junior golfers, to professionals wishing to hone particular aspects of their game.

Joe not only is the Director of Golf at Grand Harbor he currently is the Coach of the Vero Beach High School Girls Golf team and is involved in many community organizations, including as an active Board member on the Sunrise Theater Foundation, a local non-profit which raises money to introduce impoverished children to the theatre, and is foster father to rescued animals.

Joe has been married to his wife, Kim, for 18 years, and she is a successful small business owner in the Vero Beach area.

Joe’s lifetime passion for golf is evident in his enthusiasm and success as a Golf Professional, and enjoys sharing his love and expertise for the game with all.


A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Paul brings 36 years of Playing and Teaching Experience to Grand Harbor Golf Club.

His main goal is to help the membership and their guests understand and improve their golf games. Swing mechanics, the proper mental approach  and how best to navigate their way around the course all combine to give each player their best chance to play quality golf.

Having competed at the highest level: 1985 British Open Championship and 1989 & 1991 US Open Championships along with winning the 1994 Pennsylvania Open Championship and being a Collegiate All-American have given Paul the insight into what it takes to be successful on the course.

Luke Rainone was born in raised in Gloucester Rhode Island and is the oldest sibling of three.

He built a passion for golf through his father and grandfather at the age of seven playing every Saturday at the break of day. Luke carried that passion through Grade School serving as captain for his high school varsity team for 3 years up until college. He attended New England College in Henniker NH and Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreational Management. Upon graduation, Luke perused a career in the golf industry and became the Assistant Golf professional #1 Private golf club in NH, Baker Hill Golf Club. From there he was able to bring his experience down to Johns Island Club here in Vero Beach where his outgoing personality and expertise in the game flourished with the hustle and bustle of such a busy club.

After traveling North and South for about 8 years and acquiring his PGA Class A credentials he now resides here in Vero Beach. He moved on from Johns Island and became the First Assistant Professional at Mariner Sands County Club in Stuart FL. He was at this position for two years when the opportunity came about to work for and with Joe Kern as his Head Golf Professional here at Grand Harbor.

Luke is married to his wife Amanda, who is the Lead Design Consultant for California Closets here in Vero beach.  They share to beautiful boys, Ashton 3 and Logan 1 ½ and both whom will teeing it up with dad sooner than later. Luke continues to express his love for family and passion of golf through every aspect of his career.
