Tennis anyone?

Director of Tennis, Christophe Delavaut, has been passionately working with Grand Harbor tennis players since 1995. He has competed and coached at every level from juniors to the collegiate game and ultimately the professional circuit. Christophe was born in Nice, France, but grew up in and honed his tennis game on the red clay of Casablanca, Morocco. After achieving tremendous success at the junior level throughout Morocco and Western Europe, Christophe headed stateside to attend Franklin Pierce University. He played #1 Singles and Doubles for Franklin Pierce and graduated in 1987 with a B.S. in Business.

Christophe holds a Professional #1 Rating by both the USPTA and the PTR. He is currently the USPTA District 9 President and is a Board Member of the Indian River Tennis Foundation which dedicates itself to raising funds, awarding scholarships and bringing the game of tennis to underprivileged local youths. In 1987, Christophe founded the Sugarbush Tennis School which was rated as one of the “World’s Best Tennis Schools” by Tennis Magazine. Roger Cox, Senior Travel Editor for Tennis Magazine, described the Sugarbush Tennis School as the most dynamic and innovative Tennis School in the country.

During the summer months, Christophe was the Director of Tennis at The Lloyd Neck Bath Club in New York from 1996-1999, the Country Club of Detroit in Michigan from 2000-2006 and the Walloon Lake Country Club in Northern Michigan from 2007-2010. He currently spends the summer directing the tennis program at the New Seabury Club on Cape Cod.

Christophe’s passion for teaching is unparalleled. He is an atypical Director of Tennis in that he takes just as much pleasure from running successful Member Events as he does spending the entire day instructing on the court. His desire to educate doesn’t end when he leaves the Grand Harbor Tennis Center. Christophe is also the founder of TennisOxygen.com, one of the leading tennis instruction web sites in the world. Christophe blends innovative teaching techniques, on-court slow-motion video analysis and effective practice to ensure the progress of tennis players at Grand Harbor!

WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE SAYING…

“Thanks to all your staff for helping to make our Wimbledon a success! The linens, flowers and silver helped make it a classy event which is the Wimbledon tradition. Needless to say, strawberries and scones were met with delight.”

“We had such a great time at the Mardy Fish Foundation Exhibition last weekend. Playing host to Ivan Lendl, the Bryan Brothers, and of course Mardy Fish, was truly a pleasure! We can’t wait for the next exhibition!”

“My husband and I both had such a fantastic season of Interclub Team Tennis at Grand Harbor. We were new to the club this season but were lucky to have met so many new friends while attending team practices and team matches. Thank you to the tennis staff for facilitating a smooth transition to Grand Harbor!”
